Nestlé seeks a Senior Engineering Specialist in Konolfingen to lead innovation in spray drying and powder handling, ensuring safe, sustainable, and high-quality operations.

This position focuses on advancing spray drying, powder handling, and process simulation technologies within Nestlé’s Category Technical Unit. The specialist ensures that both new and existing operations adhere to rigorous safety, quality, and sustainability standards, directly contributing to the delivery of nutritious products globally.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement new technologies for spray drying, powder handling, and digital simulation.
  • Research and validate innovative methods for spray drying and powder transformation.
  • Create and maintain documentation on emerging trends in spray drying and powder handling.
  • Develop computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models and tools using Python and Excel for rapid design.
  • Design heat recovery and integration systems, including heat pumps, to meet Zero Carbon goals.
  • Manage R&D projects for spray drying and powder transformation within defined budgets and scopes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support capital expenditure (CAPEX) project deployment in factories.
  • Provide expert engineering support to markets and factories regarding spray drying and powder handling.
  • Share knowledge and best practices across the spray drying network.
  • Ensure safe and efficient powder processing operations through engineering expertise.
  • Scale up and deploy advanced spray drying and powder transformation technologies.

Requirements

  • University degree in engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive experience in R&D, factory operations, or supplier management with broad organizational exposure.
  • Deep expertise in designing, installing, and commissioning spray dryers, fluid bed dryers, agglomeration units, and other powder processing equipment.
  • Current knowledge of quality, safety, ATEX, hygiene standards, and Net Zero technologies.
  • Hands-on experience operating spray dryers, fluid beds, and powder handling systems.
  • Advanced skills in CFD, DEM, and systems modeling.
  • Experience collaborating with universities and research institutes on new technologies.
  • Strong background in CAPEX project management and industrial troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams with strong leadership, openness, and flexibility.
  • Proficiency in English.

  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
