Kanadeviainova in Zürich seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead Waste Handling systems engineering. The role involves managing project execution, supplier coordination, and technical specifications for waste reception, storage, and crane systems, supporting the company’s innovation in waste-to-value technologies.

This position supports the transformation of waste into valuable resources through advanced engineering. The engineer will execute Waste Handling projects under the guidance of the Equipment & Packages Engineering Manager, contributing to the company’s mission in sustainable waste infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Waste Handling project lots, ensuring delivery on cost, quality, and schedule under the supervision of the Engineering Manager.
  • Lead Concept and Basic Engineering phases, coordinating internal and external interfaces.
  • Develop technical specifications for procurement packages, including waste reception, storage, feeding systems, and crane equipment.
  • Evaluate supplier offers, select vendors, and place purchase orders on time.
  • Oversee supplier progress during detailed engineering, including documentation, inspections, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Collaborate across departments such as procurement, civil, electrical, and process engineering.
  • Clarify technical interfaces between disciplines and across plant lots.
  • Support installation and commissioning, troubleshoot technical issues, and document lessons learned for standardization.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of Waste Handling systems and processes.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree from a university, technical university, or FH/ETH.
  • At least 7 years of experience in industrial plant engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with crane systems, including waste cranes, bottom ash cranes, and bulk material handling.
  • Proven ability in supplier management, procurement of complex systems, and working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in executing and delivering complex mechanical systems in plant engineering projects.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice to have

  • Background in Energy from Waste, power generation, or heavy industry.
  • German language skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for supplier visits, FATs, and site support.
