Senior Packaging Technician, Operations (m/f/d)

MSD Switzerland seeks a Senior Packaging Technician in Luzern to lead clinical packaging operations, ensuring strict GMP compliance and mentoring junior staff.

The company is looking for an experienced professional to serve as the primary technical resource for daily packaging tasks. This role involves independently managing clinical packaging workflows while ensuring all activities align with internal standards and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out primary and secondary packaging for clinical studies following established specifications and batch records.
  • Operates and maintains packaging and labelling machinery to support study requirements.
  • Coordinates bottle filling, labelling, and general packaging tasks for assigned clinical trials.
  • Supplies necessary study materials to packaging rooms and prepares them according to SOPs.
  • Conducts cleaning verification for equipment and facilities, including final checks at study completion.
  • Trains and guides new technicians during their onboarding and daily operations.
  • Reviews and oversees the work of other Packaging Technicians within the designated area.
  • Manages compliance aspects of packaging orders and acts as the technical contact for study-specific technicians.
  • Handles SAP transactions related to packaging processes.
  • Prepares GMP documentation, including photographs and batch notes, and ensures accurate recording of operational activities.
  • Ensures studies are completed successfully and hands them over to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Completed apprenticeship, preferably in a life sciences-related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, clinical packaging, or a comparable GMP-regulated environment.
  • Good understanding of GMP, GDP and EHS requirements relevant to packaging operations.
  • English language proficiency at B1/ B2 level or above.
  • Hands-on experience with packaging and labelling equipment and routine operational support activities.
  • Experience with documentation practices, batch records and accurate recording of operational activities.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
