Senior PLC Software Development Engineer

Bühlergroup seeks a Senior PLC Software Development Engineer in Uzwil to design automation and software solutions for advanced machine control systems within its Value Nutrition R&D division.

This position sits within the Research and Development department of the Business Area Value Nutrition. The role focuses on creating automation and software solutions for advanced machine control systems, blending PLC programming with modern software development techniques to deliver reliable and high-performing results through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Create and deploy PLC software for machine control systems, with a primary focus on Siemens automation platforms.
• Build and maintain visualization software, including C# backend services and Angular-based frontend applications.
• Evaluate technical requirements and convert them into robust automation and software solutions that adhere to engineering standards and best practices.
• Work closely with electrical, mechanical, process, and project teams, including collaboration with the development team in China.
• Provide third-level support, troubleshooting, optimization, and commissioning assistance for machine control systems, both remotely and on-site.

Requirements

• A degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Several years of professional experience in industrial automation.
• Strong expertise in PLC programming, machine control software, relevant automation standards, and C# backend development.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, including modular design, testing, version control, and documentation.
• Very good English skills and good German skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% per year.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Rockwell automation platforms.
• Experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS frontend development.
• Willingness to learn data science, data analytics, and machine learning methods for industrial applications.
