Senior Quant Engineer

Arrakis, based in Zürich, seeks a Senior Quant Engineer to build automated, on-chain market-making systems. The role involves designing trading engines, managing real-time risk, and collaborating with protocol teams in a hybrid work environment.

Arrakis is redefining on-chain market making by creating infrastructure for non-custodial, automated trading strategies that compete with traditional finance. The company is expanding into systematic liquidity provision across advanced trading venues with derivatives and high-frequency execution. This role sits at the intersection of research and development, requiring expertise in both building systems and understanding market-making models.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement market-making engines covering pricing, quoting, inventory control, and hedging logic.
• Build and maintain real-time risk and exposure management systems, including monitoring, limits, and kill-switches.
• Lead architectural choices focused on performance, scalability, and system reliability.
• Work with on-chain and protocol teams to integrate trading logic into broader infrastructure.
• Enhance tooling, workflows, and deployment safety to support rapid iteration without sacrificing control.

Requirements

• Proven experience in developing order book market-making systems, especially passive/maker-focused strategies.
• Ability to design, model, backtest, deploy, and refine market-making systems end-to-end.
• Clear understanding of different market-making approaches, such as Avellaneda-Stoikov models versus ML-based methods, and their practical trade-offs.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Zürich area, with a requirement of 3 days per week in the office.
