Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer

Secheron S.A. in Geneva seeks a Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer to design robust, cost-efficient solutions for railway and industrial systems. The role requires expertise in mechanical design, tolerance management, and multi-physical system development, with a focus on innovation and product reliability.

Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing-ready, cost-effective, and durable mechanical designs.
• Translate advanced technical concepts into practical, implementable designs.
• Review and challenge designs and drawings created by other team members.
• Serve as a go-to expert and mentor for robust design practices.
• Collaborate across departments to support existing products.
• Understand and manage complex systems involving multiple physical domains.
• Perform hands-on experimental setup and testing of prototypes.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Microtechnics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Experience in tolerance management, robust design, design-to-cost, and finite element analysis using Solidworks, Comsol, or Ansys.
• Proven ability to develop complex systems integrating mechanical, electrical, and magnetic technologies.
• Track record of implementing robust design principles in industrial products.
• Ability to lead innovation and resolve critical technical challenges.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and materials, especially plastics and thermosets.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in French or German is preferred.
• Knowledge of Geometrical Product Specifications (ISO GD&T) and tolerance management in SolidWorks.
• Experience with functional analysis and FMEA.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering and power electronics.
