Senior Software Engineer - Distributed Systems

Decentriq AG seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Zürich to lead distributed data pipelines and privacy-preserving ML for AdTech. Remote work available.

As a key member of the engineering team at Decentriq, a leading provider of data-clean-room solutions, you will own the analytics and machine learning pipelines that drive the platform. Your work will focus on enhancing pipeline resilience and advancing privacy-preserving machine learning techniques specifically for the AdTech sector.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of pandas and Spark-based data pipelines, including development, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Develop and deploy models for AdTech applications, such as look-alike modeling, audience expansion, and campaign measurement.
• Ensure high reliability by implementing robust data source validation, comprehensive testing, and self-healing job mechanisms.
• Collaborate with data scientists, backend engineers using Rust, and product teams to deliver end-to-end features.
• Utilize LLM-based code assistants, design generators, and test automation tools to accelerate development and improve quality.
• Optimize Spark workloads through profiling and benchmarking, while establishing best practices for orchestration and observability.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of professional experience in the field.
• Expert proficiency in Python, along with hands-on experience in pandas, PySpark, Scala Spark, and distributed data processing.
• Demonstrated success in building resilient, production-grade data pipelines with strict data quality and validation standards.
• Experience operating workloads on platforms such as Databricks, Spark on Kubernetes, or other cloud and on-premises big-data environments.

Nice to have

• Understanding of the ML lifecycle and model serving, with familiarity in audience segmentation or look-alike modeling techniques.
• Knowledge of privacy-preserving technologies, including confidential computing, secure enclaves, or homomorphic encryption.
• Proficiency in the Rust programming language.
• Skills in managing Spark clusters, job schedulers, or orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Dagster, or custom solutions.
