Senior Software Engineer - Policy & Control

Perk Yokoy seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead policy and control features, owning the full lifecycle from design to deployment while mentoring peers and driving architectural excellence.

This position requires taking full ownership of specific domains within a cross-functional squad. The engineer is responsible for the entire feature lifecycle, starting with identifying customer needs and ending with deployment and impact measurement.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to quarterly objectives and long-term vision by defining what needs to be built and why.
• Create design documents for major platform updates and manage technical debt.
• Communicate complex technical concepts across teams to ensure organizational alignment.
• Mentor junior colleagues through direct guidance and constructive code review feedback.
• Design scalable systems and data models that prioritize performance and failure isolation.
• Set and maintain engineering standards, including CI/CD improvements and testing protocols.
• Establish frontend architecture patterns, focusing on state management and performance budgets.
• Develop sophisticated backend solutions involving API versioning, caching, and data migration.
• Lead SRE practices by defining SLOs and managing incident responses.
• Oversee operational security, including secrets management and dependency risks.
• Utilize agentic workflows and AI-powered tools for code reviews and development.

Requirements

• Experience with or a strong interest in modern AI-augmented workflows.
• Ability to translate complex business goals into technical roadmaps.
• Ability to de-risk ambiguous projects through spikes and prototyping.
• Must be based within commuting distance of our hubs.
