Speechify seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Basel to build core SDKs and APIs. The role focuses on systems design, Kotlin development, and creating accessible audio products for millions of users.
This position belongs to the Core Experiences Team, which is responsible for the foundational services and SDKs that drive the product across all platforms. The engineer will operate at the junction of product strategy and infrastructure, tasked with designing reliable APIs and simple, efficient systems that power the user experience.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product teams to define project scopes, manage trade-offs between integration and user experience, and deliver solutions through the cross-platform SDK.
- Enhance system performance by optimizing algorithms and creating efficient abstractions to enable faster loading and smarter parsing.
- Develop and deploy cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and background jobs using Kotlin.
Requirements
- Demonstrated systems thinking with an end-to-end design perspective and a strong commitment to simplicity.
- Ability to rapidly generate ideas and make swift decisions regarding what features are ready for immediate release versus those requiring further development.
- Strong focus and the capacity to work independently or collaboratively within a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Excellent collaboration skills to effectively communicate and negotiate with designers, marketers, and product managers.
