Application Software Engineer

Harmattan Ai in Lausanne, Switzerland, seeks a Senior Application Software Engineer to join its R&D team as a founding member of a new group developing an industrial-grade ground control station (GCS) software. The role involves designing and building core features with a focus on user experience and technical quality.

This position is part of the R&D team in Lausanne, Switzerland, and involves being a founding member of a new team tasked with developing the ground control station (GCS) software. The primary mission is to design and build an industrial-grade ground control software solution.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver core GCS features such as flight planning, airspace awareness, and live video, ensuring strong user experience and technical accuracy.
• Collaborate with the Autopilot development team to ensure smooth integration between GCS software and drone hardware.
• Participate in agile development cycles, including two-week sprints, to implement high-priority features defined by the product team.
• Take full responsibility for code, from architectural design through rigorous testing and ongoing maintenance, to ensure industrial-grade software quality.
• Mentor junior engineers as the team expands, especially for candidates with around 10 years of experience.

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics is preferred.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering complex, production-ready software systems with solid architectural foundations.
• Fluency in modern application frameworks such as Dart/Flutter or C++/Qt/QML.
• Direct experience in developing ground control stations for drone companies is a major advantage.
• Demonstrated adaptability, autonomy, and initiative, thriving in a collaborative team setting.
• Commitment to team practices such as code reviews to uphold high software quality standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with Android development is of interest.
