Senior Specialist Applied Mathematics & Digital Biology

Nestlé Operational Services Worldwide SA seeks a Senior Specialist in Applied Mathematics and Digital Biology in Lausanne to transform complex health and biological data into actionable insights using advanced modelling and AI.

This position focuses on leveraging advanced mathematical modelling, data science, and digital biology to convert intricate health, nutrition, and clinical data into predictive and interpretable insights. The specialist will work alongside scientists, computational biologists, and external partners to drive innovation in health benefits.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead applied mathematics and digital biology strategies to enhance predictive, mechanism-based research in health and nutrition.
• Create sophisticated mathematical, statistical, and computational models to support scientific decision-making across various research initiatives.
• Convert complex biological, clinical, nutritional, and omics data into clear, actionable insights that aid discovery and validation.
• Design AI-driven analytical workflows that shift project teams from descriptive analysis to predictive, decision-ready science.
• Advise cross-functional teams on utilizing robust models and reproducible workflows to speed up health-benefit innovation.
• Develop scalable digital biology capabilities, including strategic partnerships and scientific frameworks, to reinforce the company’s leadership in the field.

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in mathematical modelling, statistical learning, machine learning, causal inference, optimisation, and mechanistic modelling.
• Experience applying quantitative methods to complex datasets involving health, nutrition, biology, clinical trials, microbiome, or omics.
• Fluent proficiency in English for effective communication.

• Knowledge of digital biology approaches such as digital twins, virtual cells, agentic AI, and foundation models to accelerate innovation.
