Senior Vendor Manager and Project Leader (80–100%)

Roche seeks a Senior Vendor Manager and Project Leader in Rotkreuz to oversee third-party software engagements for Molecular Diagnostics, ensuring compliance, quality, and strategic alignment within a hybrid work model.

This position serves as the central link between Roche Diagnostics Solutions R&D and external software vendors, operating within a global, cross-functional setting. The role is critical for driving collaboration and performance in third-party engagements, acting as the main point of contact between the vendor’s delivery manager and Roche. By ensuring strict adherence to quality and compliance standards, the incumbent directly supports the company’s long-term strategic ambitions in molecular diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate transparent and trusting partnerships with external vendors.
  • Oversee daily operations through regular check-ins and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
  • Collaborate with internal Procurement teams to create work orders and define Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Audit invoice accuracy against project milestones and at-risk delivery statuses to control costs.
  • Define and track key metrics to monitor feature development, value delivery, and contractual alignment.
  • Prevent scope expansion by synchronizing Statements of Work (SOW) with the agile backlog.
  • Lead moderate-sized agile squads or Agile Release Trains (ARTs), ensuring delivery within time, budget, and quality limits.
  • Enforce a quality-first mindset, ensuring vendors prioritize product integrity over speed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a preference for Computer Science.
  • Project management certification such as PMP, IPMA Level B, or an equivalent credential.
  • Strong background in software engineering, ideally within regulated IVD sectors, agile frameworks (SAFe), and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing near-shore, offshore, or international vendor software projects.
  • Exceptional intercultural communication abilities.
  • Proven expertise in establishing and measuring quality-focused KPIs.
  • Skill in mitigating scope creep via rigorous change control and negotiation tactics.
  • Willingness to travel internationally roughly once every quarter.

Nice to have

  • SAFe certifications, such as Leading SAFe.
