Software Engineer (Java)

SonarSource seeks a Mid-level Java Software Engineer in Geneva to lead AWS architecture and feature development for SonarQube, ensuring high code quality and security standards.

This position sits within the engineering group dedicated to SonarQube Cloud and Server, with a primary focus on enhancing code quality and security. The team delivers robust products that assist developers in writing superior software, utilizing short iteration cycles to rapidly deploy features into production environments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers and UX designers to define new features and enhance existing products.
• Build new functionalities with a user-centric approach, including writing unit and integration tests.
• Architect application solutions on AWS infrastructure.
• Take full ownership of team deliverables and guide sprints to successful completion.
• Deploy new features to production and monitor their performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to team features.
• Mentor engineers to support their technical growth and remove obstacles.
• Apply agile methodologies in daily workflows.
• Contribute to setting short and long-term team objectives.

Requirements

• At least six years of professional experience as a Java Software Engineer.
• Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable Java code while applying design patterns and architectural principles.
• Proven experience in designing cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Strong understanding of engineering processes, structural design, and system optimization.
• Solid computer science fundamentals and excellent engineering capabilities.
• Leadership skills with the ability to drive projects to completion with minimal supervision.
• Experience in supporting and mentoring fellow team members.
• Familiarity with relational databases like Postgres and SQL.
• Knowledge of code quality practices, including testing frameworks and constructive code reviews.
• Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Proficiency with version control systems like git.
