Spatial / Single Cell Genomics Expert

The company seeks a Spatial / Single Cell Genomics Expert to join the Genomics Facility Basel, an academic technology platform jointly operated by the University of Basel and ETH Zurich. The role focuses on evaluating and implementing emerging genomics technologies, providing scientific support, and developing novel workflows for life science research.

This position is based within the Genomics Facility Basel (GFB), an academic technology platform jointly operated by the University of Basel and ETH Zurich. The facility supports life science research and provides services to associated institutions and external partners. The role involves evaluating, implementing, and benchmarking emerging genomics technologies, providing scientific and technical support for user projects, and developing novel workflows for scalable, robust, and high-throughput approaches.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, implement, and benchmark emerging genomics technologies.
• Provide scientific and technical support for user projects, including experimental design and troubleshooting.
• Research and develop novel workflows, focusing on scalable, robust, and high-throughput approaches.
• Optimize, validate, and document methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Participate in internal R&D projects, technology pilots, and collaborative research initiatives.
• Communicate new technologies and results through consultations, training, presentations, and documentation.

Requirements

• PhD in biology, molecular biology, genomics, bioengineering, or a related life science discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience with modern genomics and molecular biology techniques, particularly next-generation sequencing.
• Demonstrated experience in single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, multi-omics workflows, or high-throughput library preparation methods.
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• Practical experience in working in an NGS core facility.
