Sr Specialist SA – IMM EU-Central, Infrastructure Migration and Modernization

Amazon Switzerland seeks a Senior Specialist for Infrastructure Migration and Modernization in Zurich, focusing on migrating VMware workloads to AWS for European South customers.

This position sits within the Worldwide Specialist Organization’s Infrastructure Migration and Modernization team, based in Zurich. The core objective is to assist clients in transitioning their on-premise VMware environments to native AWS technologies, ensuring successful adoption and modernization.

Responsibilities

• Partner with sales specialists to create go-to-market strategies and scaling mechanisms across the EU-Central region.
• Gather customer feedback from field and regional teams to inform product development and improvements.
• Deliver specialized technical expertise to internal teams to resolve complex, high-impact customer challenges.
• Work with global specialist colleagues to shape go-to-market strategies and support local technical events and marketing campaigns.
• Share industry best practices through AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public speaking engagements.
• Develop internal training materials to help the broader Solutions Architect team understand VMware-to-AWS migration paths.
• Actively contribute to the AWS Technical Field Community within the specialist domain.

Requirements

• Over eight years of experience designing, implementing, or consulting on x86-based applications and infrastructure.
• At least six years managing technical teams with direct customer-facing responsibilities.
• Six or more years of experience migrating and modernizing Microsoft workloads to cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with VMware or comparable datacenter hypervisor solutions.
• Proven track record of migrating and transforming Linux, storage, and database systems to the cloud.

Nice to have

• History of successful technical consulting or architecture projects with large-scale enterprise customers.
• Experience in datacenter consolidation and private cloud solutions, including vSphere and cloud automation.
• Excellent communication skills, with comfort presenting to executives, IT management, and development teams.
• Familiarity with common enterprise services and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies.
• Relevant AWS industry certifications, such as VMware VCP/VCAP, Microsoft Azure Certifications, or AWS Solution Architect.
