Perk Yokoy seeks a Staff Software Engineer for its Flights division in Switzerland. This hybrid role focuses on platform reliability, scaling, and cross-team technical leadership within a global organization.

The Flights division is one of the company's most rapidly expanding engineering groups, having grown from a single team to four since 2025. This position supports mission-driven teams responsible for core platform stability, post-booking user experiences, error recovery, and airline inventory scaling. The engineer will operate within a global organization of over 1,800 employees across 12 offices, with headquarters in London and Boston.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across multiple squads to define shared technical strategies and contribute to quarterly and annual planning cycles.
  • Dedicate the majority of working hours to hands-on engineering tasks within one or two specific teams.
  • Mentor colleagues, remove blockers, and coordinate with dependent groups to advance shared projects.
  • Define annual objectives and identify necessary architectural adjustments to support future growth.
  • Support team development through direct mentorship, design reviews, and pair programming sessions.
  • Drive alignment across the broader engineering organization and contribute to company-wide initiatives.
  • Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders across the business.

Requirements

  • Adopt a product engineering mindset, managing the full lifecycle from customer problem identification to deployment and impact measurement.
  • Demonstrate proven experience leading multi-team technical initiatives, including dependency management and stakeholder alignment.
  • Design scalable, evolvable systems and articulate a clear technical roadmap.
  • Manage own services in production, including monitoring, testing, rollout, and operations.
  • Possess experience in domains with significant underlying complexity, preferably in flights, travel, or fintech.
  • Exhibit backend-heavy full-stack capabilities with deep expertise in backend systems.
  • Lead observability and reliability practices, including defining SLOs, incident handling, and blameless post-mortems.
  • Show a track record of elevating team performance through mentorship, design reviews, and modeling best practices.
  • Reside within commuting distance of company hubs to support an in-person-first work model.

Nice to have

  • Experience with or strong interest in modern AI-augmented workflows, including agentic coding and AI-assisted code review.
  • Willingness to adapt to tools beyond Python and AWS, provided the candidate demonstrates rapid learning capabilities.
