Staff System Architect

Id Quantique seeks a Staff System Architect in Geneva to lead the technical architecture and roadmap for next-generation SNSPD platforms, bridging quantum photonics, cryogenics, and embedded systems.

This position focuses entirely on the SNSPD product line, guiding the technical evolution of advanced cryogenic photon detection systems. The role operates at the intersection of quantum photonics, cryogenic engineering, and embedded systems, ensuring the next-generation rack-mountable platform meets high performance and integration standards.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete system architecture for the SNSPD platform.
• Convert product requirements into detailed system-level designs and specifications.
• Establish system structure, interfaces, and major architectural choices.
• Manage trade-offs between performance, cost, scalability, and integration.
• Ensure engineering execution aligns with the architectural vision and oversee system integration.
• Solve complex cross-domain design challenges.
• Define and advance the technology roadmap.
• Assess and adopt new technologies to sustain innovation and market competitiveness.
• Lead architecture decisions and foster cross-functional alignment.
• Drive technology roadmap, integration, and innovation by evaluating and implementing new technologies.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in physics, electrical engineering, photonics, or a related field.
• Over seven years of experience in system architecture or complex system design.
• Expertise in multi-domain systems, including photonics, cryogenics, electronics, and embedded or software components.
• Strong system-level thinking and proven experience in integrating complex technologies into cohesive, high-performing solutions.
• Strong technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex system architectures to a wide range of stakeholders.
• Extensive experience in system architecture and multi-domain integration.
• Proven technical leadership and communication skills.

Nice to have

• PhD in a relevant field.
• 10+ years in senior technical or architectural roles.
• Experience with SNSPDs, cryogenic, or quantum systems.
• Experience with industrialized or rack-mountable systems.
