Storage Engineer (80-100%)

Lombard Odier IM seeks a Storage Engineer in Geneva to manage global storage and backup infrastructure, ensuring high availability and driving automation within a resilient technical environment.

This position supports a team of 15 system engineering experts responsible for a global infrastructure comprising over 7,000 servers. The role is central to a large-scale technical environment where reliability, performance, resilience, and innovation are paramount. The engineer will play a key part in designing, operating, and evolving the storage and backup ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Design, manage, and evolve enterprise Storage, SAN, and Backup infrastructures
• Ensure the performance, availability, and resiliency of critical data storage and protection services
• Contribute to infrastructure modernization projects, including replication, disaster recovery, and object storage technologies
• Drive automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention
• Propose innovative solutions to optimize services, enhance reliability, and reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with security and governance standards
• Management and optimization of storage arrays, SAN switches and zoning configurations
• Management of Active-Active replication solutions, backup and recovery platforms
• Performance monitoring and capacity planning across the storage landscape

Requirements

• Higher education in computer science or communication systems
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the field
• Strong knowledge of enterprise Storage and Backup technologies
• Proven experience managing storage arrays and SAN infrastructures
• Strong understanding of storage performance analysis, troubleshooting, and capacity planning
• Experience with Active-Active replication technologies and disaster recovery solutions
• Good knowledge of SAN switching, Fibre Channel protocols, and zoning concepts
• Good knowledge of S3-compatible object storage technologies
• Experience with automation using Ansible, Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies
• Experience with one or more of the following products: Hitachi, NetApp, Pure Storage, Brocade, Commvault
• Fluent in both French and English (spoken and written)
• Residence in Switzerland or willingness to relocate

Nice to have

• Knowledge of virtualization technologies, especially VMware
• Familiarity with Microsoft infrastructure technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, System Center)
• Understanding of authentication and security technologies such as Kerberos, PKI, or ADFS
