ETH Zurich seeks a Mid-level Systems Engineer – Platform Automation in Lugano, CH, to develop and manage HPC/AI services on a multi-tenant infrastructure. The role involves automating platform operations, supporting geographically redundant systems, and enhancing system efficiency through tooling and documentation.
This position focuses on advancing high-performance computing and artificial intelligence platforms by designing, implementing, and maintaining automated services on a multi-tenant infrastructure. The engineer will directly contribute to improving system functionality and efficiency through robust tooling and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and debug platform services and infrastructure components.
- Create, maintain, and support tools and pipelines for platforms operating across geographically redundant infrastructure.
- Build automations for provisioning, testing, deploying, and monitoring resources to meet HPC and AI platform needs.
- Support, document, and share knowledge about tools and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience deploying HPC, AI, or cloud infrastructures.
- Proven ability to manage HPC/AI services to optimize compute, storage, and high-speed network usage.
- Working knowledge of automation tools and CI/CD processes and ecosystems.
- Linux administration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD workflows, including ArgoCD.
- Debugging experience with microservices running on Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with performance monitoring and diagnostic tools for HPC/AI hardware.
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
