The company seeks a Technical Buyer to manage supplier relations and technical procurement for power grid components in Zürich. This mid-level role requires strong technical knowledge and SAP experience.
This position serves as a central link between internal departments and external suppliers, focusing on the after-sales support and maintenance of generator circuit-breaker systems and gas insulated switchgears. The role ensures product quality and supply reliability, supporting the delivery of sustainable energy solutions globally.
Responsibilities
- Clarify technical details regarding materials, engineering drawings, and specifications alongside engineering teams and vendors.
- Coordinate Production Part Approval Process activities, initial sample approvals, and supplier qualification steps.
- Evaluate alternative materials, handle deviation requests, and manage obsolescence cases.
- Work with strategic and operational buyers on supplier and material matters.
- Address supplier complaints, Non-Conformity Reports, and conduct root cause analyses.
- Participate in supplier assessments, including reviews of quality, process maturity, and capabilities.
- Assist in supplier performance evaluations alongside quality and strategic procurement teams.
- Maintain accurate material and supplier master data in SAP and serve as the technical contact during escalations.
- Provide support to service organizations and project teams for complex or urgent procurement needs.
Requirements
- Technical degree or equivalent training, such as in automation, mechanics, or design engineering.
- Three to five years of experience in technical procurement or supply chain management.
- Solid grasp of technical drawings, bills of materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience collaborating with suppliers on technical and quality issues.
- Structured, solution-oriented, and communicative work approach.
- Good proficiency in German and very good proficiency in English.
- Familiarity with SAP systems.
- Proactive and structured mindset with a focus on solutions.
- Team-oriented attitude with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
