Viatris seeks a Technical Solutions & Innovation Lead in Allschwil to drive R and Shiny-based reporting, lead biometry tech initiatives, and mentor a specialist team within a hybrid work model.

This position focuses on creating tailored reports and applications using R and R Shiny to support monitoring and data exploration in clinical trials. The role serves as the main technical liaison between biometry and IT, while guiding process improvements and managing a small group of technical experts.

Responsibilities

  • Build custom reports and R Shiny apps for clinical trial data monitoring and exploration.
  • Drive technical process enhancements and workflow tools alongside biometry team leaders.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for biometry-related IT innovation projects.
  • Guide, mentor, and work closely with a dedicated group of technical specialists.
  • Develop and roll out technical solutions that boost efficiency and scalability, from initial concepts to full implementation.
  • Set and encourage best practices for coding, version control, and automation across biometry teams.
  • Monitor new technologies, industry standards, and programming advancements.
  • Manage the Posit platform as the business owner.
  • Collaborate with clinical science, data management, programming, and biostatistics teams to pinpoint and prioritize impactful technical projects.
  • Champion modern programming methods like R and Python within biometry, including arranging focused training sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of eight years of experience working in a pharmaceutical company or CRO.
  • Demonstrated capability to program and manage statistical analyses using clinical trial data (SDTM and ADaM), with deep knowledge of clinical trial analysis workflows and regulatory-compliant processes.
  • Advanced R programming skills, going beyond familiarity with packages like dplyr and ggplot2.
  • Practical experience in designing and developing professional Shiny apps for statistical analysis, visualization, and review of clinical trial data.
  • Ability to produce reproducible reports using RMarkdown and/or Quarto.
  • At least three years of experience leading technical projects.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative communication style and advanced English proficiency.

  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS.
