Thermo-Mechanical R&D Engineer (CDD 1 year)

Secheron S Dot A seeks a Thermo-Mechanical R&D Engineer in Satigny, CH, to design and validate electro-mechanical components for DC medium voltage within the Electrical Safety Solutions unit.

This position sits within the Electrical Safety Solutions unit, where the focus is on developing components that safeguard critical infrastructure. The role is based in Satigny, near Geneva, and involves leading the design, simulation, and validation of complex electro-mechanical systems for DC medium voltage applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical and thermal design, development, and validation of electro-mechanical components for DC medium voltage systems.
• Conduct multiphysics simulations, with a strong focus on cooling mechanisms and heat transfer.
• Guide products from initial concept feasibility through finite element analysis, prototyping, and validation testing until certification and launch.
• Oversee industrialization efforts, drive product improvements, and maintain existing product lines.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanics, energy, or electro-mechanical engineering.
• Demonstrate experience developing complex systems that integrate thermal, mechanical, electrical, and magnetic technologies.
• Show a track record of inventing advanced concepts and resolving critical technical challenges.
• Possess 2-3 years of successful experience designing electromagnetic devices.
• Be fluent in either French or English.
• Apply knowledge of finite element analysis for thermal, multi-physics, and stress scenarios.
• Produce clear reporting and technical documentation.
• Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain high accuracy and precision, with a strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to cost and risk factors.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in the railway or power distribution sectors.
• Background in testing and validating products according to international standards.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, particularly Solidworks.
• Understanding of electro-magnetism principles.
