Johnson Electric seeks a Lead Engineer to design advanced thermal systems for e-Systems in Switzerland. The role focuses on optimizing heat pump and cooling architectures using sustainable refrigerants and simulation tools.
This position is responsible for creating and refining next-generation thermal architectures for e-System technologies. The lead engineer will drive strategic innovation, guide decision-making processes, and help bring high-impact solutions to market more quickly.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the development of thermal systems utilizing sustainable refrigerants such as R744, R290, and R1234yf.
- Create and refine thermal system architectures specifically for heat pumps and cooling applications.
- Partner with simulation experts and cross-functional teams to foster innovation and technical excellence.
- Assess various refrigerants and components to ensure compliance with performance standards and environmental targets.
- Incorporate AI tools and simulation data to enhance and optimize system designs.
- Shape product roadmaps to reduce time-to-market for critical solutions.
- Analyze technical data, generate reports, and communicate key findings to senior leadership.
Requirements
- Hold a Master’s degree in Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Possess at least five years of professional experience in thermodynamics and thermal system design.
- Demonstrate proficiency with MATLAB, GT Suites, and other 1D simulation software.
- Have additional programming capabilities in Python or R.
- Show prior work experience within the automotive or HVAC sectors.
- Maintain a strong grasp of sustainable refrigerants and international thermal regulations.
- Be fluent in English and at least one of the following: French, German, or Italian.

- A PhD in Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
