GF Casting Solutions seeks a Senior Innovation Engineer to lead next-generation data center cooling solutions in Schaffhausen, CH. The role involves end-to-end development of scalable, manufacturable concepts with a focus on polymer-based components and direct liquid cooling technologies.
GF Industry and Infrastructure Flow Solutions, a global leader in piping systems, is advancing sustainable fluid transport solutions. This role focuses on pioneering cooling technologies for the expanding data center market, driving innovation from concept to manufacturability. The engineer will work closely with Product Management, R&D, and customers to develop scalable, high-impact solutions with strong autonomy and strategic influence.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical development from initial idea through concept, prototyping, feasibility checks, and manufacturability, especially for polymer-based components
- Act as the primary technical liaison between Product Management, R&D, and customers
- Convert market and customer requirements into solid technical concepts and help define target product specifications
- Create structured front-end deliverables and support specification creation for seamless transition to R&D teams
- Conduct engineering analyses including pressure-loss calculations, thermal evaluations, and basic structural assessments
- Review system layouts and isometric drawings to assist with dimensioning, integration, and overall design
- Develop and expand application expertise to identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Work with Product and Portfolio Management teams and customers to co-create innovative cooling solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Plastics Engineering, or similar)
- 6 to 9 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in data center cooling
- Deep knowledge in Direct Liquid Cooling, fluid dynamics, pressure-loss calculations, and basic thermal system design
- Ability to evaluate structural integrity of piping and plastic parts and translate ideas into durable designs
- Strong sense of ownership, practical problem-solving skills, and the capacity to work independently while communicating effectively across teams
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as Siemens NX, with hands-on experience in prototyping and plastics engineering
- Fluent in English
