AI Transformation Management Office (TMO) Lead

Partners Group seeks a Senior AI Transformation Management Office Lead to govern portfolio-wide AI initiatives, ensuring technical feasibility, resource alignment, and measurable value realization across all companies.

This position serves as the central governance and coordination hub for artificial intelligence efforts throughout the entire portfolio. The lead acts as the primary authority on program status, risks, and resource allocation, bridging the gap between business objectives and technical execution. While not a hands-on engineer or deep design authority, the role requires strong technical judgment to validate feasibility, sequence initiatives effectively, and ensure that projects deliver on their promised value from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a comprehensive, single-source view of all AI projects across portfolio companies, tracking scope, ownership, timelines, dependencies, and potential risks.
• Establish and lead governance rhythms, including stage-gates, steering committee reviews, and prioritization meetings, in close collaboration with the Chief AI Officer and Vertical Leads.
• Identify and resolve cross-company dependencies and bottlenecks to ensure smooth progress across concurrent initiatives.
• Oversee the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, guiding projects from initial intake and prioritization through design, build, deployment, and final value realization.
• Proactively surface risks and blockers, driving them to resolution and maintaining an honest assessment of program health.
• Collaborate with AI Solution Architects and technical teams to ensure high-level solution designs are sound and aligned with business goals.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements, ensuring scopes are realistic and based on solid architecture rather than optimistic assumptions.
• Evaluate proposed approaches for architectural soundness, flagging over-engineered or under-scoped solutions and escalating appropriately.
• Identify opportunities for solution reuse across different companies and integrate these patterns into a shared library.
• Coordinate with external implementation partners, vendors, and internal teams, managing scope, timelines, and handoffs effectively.
• Monitor partner performance against milestones and acceptance criteria defined by the Solution Architect, handling escalations as needed.
• Allocate scarce resources, including talent, partner capacity, and budget, across competing initiatives in alignment with firm priorities.
• Define and execute a measurement discipline that links every initiative to specific financial and operational outcomes, tracking actual versus planned value.
• Produce clear, decision-useful reports for the CAIO, firm leadership, and the Investment Committee regarding progress, risks, and pipeline status.
• Identify underperforming initiatives and drive decisions to fix, re-scope, or terminate them.
• Continuously improve the TMO's tools, templates, intake processes, and delivery playbooks to support scaling as the portfolio grows.
• Capture lessons learned from various initiatives and feed them back into prioritization strategies, standards, and partner management practices.
• Support the diligence and onboarding of new acquisitions, ensuring they quickly integrate into the established AI operating model.
