Imc seeks a Mid-level AML/KYC Officer in Zug to manage crypto counterparty due diligence, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance within a collaborative, high-performance trading environment.
This position plays a critical part in safeguarding the firm's digital asset operations by overseeing anti-money laundering and know-your-customer protocols for crypto counterparties. The role operates within a compact, specialized team that carries substantial regulatory weight, ensuring that all onboarding and ongoing monitoring activities meet strict compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Execute customer due diligence and routine checks for digital asset partners.
- Carry out risk-focused reviews, applying enhanced due diligence where necessary.
- Examine intricate ownership and control setups, including offshore or multi-layered entities.
- Evaluate potential money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and sanctions risks tied to partners, products, and regions.
- Handle escalations for high-risk partners and new onboarding cases.
- Lead independent risk evaluations and assign suitable risk ratings.
- Compile detailed memos for senior leadership approval on complex high-risk scenarios.
- Run adverse media and sanctions checks using specialized screening software.
- Spot and evaluate red flags linked to crypto partners and digital asset workflows.
- Analyze wallet data and blockchain intelligence results as needed.
- Serve as the go-to expert for onboarding and counterparty risk questions.
- Communicate directly with partners to clarify compliance needs and gather documentation.
- Collaborate with Trading, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams on risk and onboarding issues.
- Offer practical guidance to internal teams on crypto-specific risks and controls.
- Help drive improvements in AML/KYC processes and controls.
- Write and update AML/CTF policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
- Assist in internal audits, regulatory examinations, and remediation efforts.
- Stay updated on AML/CTF regulations, sanctions rules, and industry standards for digital assets.
Requirements
- At least four years of experience in AML/KYC/CDD within crypto, trading, banking, payment institutions, or other regulated financial entities.
- Deep knowledge of enhanced due diligence standards and risk-based AML/KYC evaluations.
- Proven ability to conduct independent risk assessments and make sound judgments.
- Familiarity with AML/CTF laws and sanctions frameworks.
- Experience navigating complex legal structures and institutional partners.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Capability to independently handle complex AML/KYC tasks from onboarding to ongoing monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage directly with partners and senior leaders.
- A pragmatic, risk-based approach to problem-solving.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory landscape.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Prior exposure to AML/CTF risks and typologies in digital assets and crypto markets is preferred.
- Familiarity with crypto transaction tracing and wallet screening tools is preferred.
- CAMS certification is preferred; crypto-specific AML certifications are a plus.
