Zurich Instruments seeks a Mid-level Application Manager in Quantum Computing based in Zürich, CH. The role bridges research and commercial applications, requiring deep technical expertise in quantum systems and customer engagement skills. Work is onsite and requires fluency in English and a relevant advanced degree.

This role connects scientific innovation in quantum computing with real-world applications, supporting the transition from research environments to scalable architectures. It serves as a technical liaison between customer needs and product development, ensuring Zurich Instruments remains a leading technology partner in the quantum ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain in-depth knowledge of quantum computing workflows, from lab-based research to scalable system architectures.
  • Assess customer requirements, emerging technology trends, and competitor offerings within the quantum computing field.
  • Act as the primary technical representative for quantum computing customers, feeding insights into product management for roadmap and feature development.
  • Train Key Account Managers, Technical Sales, and Application Scientists on quantum computing applications and market positioning.
  • Support high-value customer engagements by contributing to technical strategies and win plans for complex or strategic accounts.
  • Discover and integrate complementary products, partner technologies, and ecosystem solutions to deliver comprehensive quantum computing offerings.
  • Create educational content such as application notes, white papers, webinars, and conference presentations on quantum computing use cases.
  • Participate in customer workshops, scientific conferences, and industry forums to reinforce Zurich Instruments’ role as a trusted technology partner.

Requirements

  • Strong technical background in quantum technologies.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Thorough understanding of experimental quantum system architectures, including research-level characterization and scaling challenges.
  • Experience in high-tech instrumentation or complex technical environments, ideally across both academic/research and industrial settings.
  • Proven experience collaborating with leading research institutes, national labs, or quantum hardware providers.
  • Excellent communication abilities, including experience training sales teams and interacting with senior technical decision-makers.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

Nice to have

  • PhD in an experimentally focused quantum computing field is strongly preferred.
