Applied AI Engineer

Deepjudge, a Swiss AI scale-up, seeks a Mid-level Applied AI Engineer in Zurich to build customer-focused AI solutions using their platform. The role involves end-to-end development, collaboration with engineering teams, and continuous improvement of AI-powered features for law firms and legal departments.

The Applied AI Engineer role at Deepjudge involves working directly with clients to understand their operational needs and developing AI-driven solutions that address real-world challenges. This is a hands-on position focused on turning the company’s platform into valuable, scalable experiences for customers, combining technical execution with strategic problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of customer-specific AI projects, from initial problem analysis and solution design to development, deployment, evaluation, and ongoing enhancement.
• Develop reusable AI solutions using Deepjudge’s internal platform and tools, ensuring they are robust and scalable for thousands of end users.
• Collaborate with engineering and machine learning teams to enhance core product features and increase the platform’s intelligence over time.
• Support customers and their technical or innovation teams by providing hands-on guidance, documentation, and tools to maximize platform value.
• Assess emerging LLM models and techniques, and integrate promising approaches into production systems.
• Identify improvement opportunities and coordinate cross-team efforts to advance key initiatives quickly.

Requirements

• Proven experience creating technically complex applications using LLMs, whether through APIs, frameworks like DSPy, LangChain, or LangGraph, or custom-built systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python or JavaScript.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of what delivers value and a commitment to quality in shipped work.
• Resilient problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environments requiring independent decision-making.
• No legal background is necessary, but a willingness to gain domain expertise over time is expected.
