Business Analyst

VAT Vakuumventile AG is seeking a Senior Business Analyst in Haag, CH to translate business needs into technical specifications and lead data-driven decision-making within a global IT team.

This position sits at the heart of VAT’s operations by converting business requirements into precise technical blueprints for data and analytics. The role partners with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure analytical solutions support strategic objectives and empower decision-makers with reliable insights for operational improvement.

Responsibilities

• Guide and develop Business Analysts while refining internal processes to maximize value delivery.
• Draft and update Solution Design Documents to transform business needs into technical specifications for data solutions.
• Engage with domain stakeholders (procurement, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, sales) to define needs and propose suitable solutions.
• Coordinate with IT specialists including engineers and architects to bridge business objectives with technical execution.
• Provide initial data extracts, execute manual tests, and perform first-level validation before solutions reach business users.
• Train key and end users on analytics tools, clarifying intended use cases and potential data limitations.
• Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or in a related IT/analytics role.
• Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Economics, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated ability to gather, refine, and document requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
• Strong analytical thinking with a meticulous approach to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with both technical and business teams.
• Proven capability to thrive in multicultural, cross-functional environments.
• Self-starter who can manage competing priorities and adapt to changing conditions.
• Proficiency with data tools, scripting, programming, or analytical platforms.
• Solid grasp of core business functions (finance, supply chain, sales, manufacturing) and supporting enterprise systems (ERP, CRM).
• Fluent English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with SQL and Power BI, including semantic models and report creation.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP platforms and their analytical impact.
• Experience using Microsoft Fabric or comparable modern data platforms.
• Familiarity with visual communication standards like IBCS.
• Background in conducting user training and supporting solution adoption through change management.
• Practical experience in agile environments using Scrum methodology.
• Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) certification or equivalent.
• Ability to drive decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Experience mentoring others during organizational change.
• Strong grasp of project lifecycle management, including planning, execution, release, and support.
