CERN seeks a Senior Business Continuity Lead in Geneva to strengthen organizational resilience through integrated risk management and crisis preparedness frameworks.
This position is pivotal for enhancing CERN’s ability to withstand disruptions. The incumbent will lead and coordinate business continuity efforts across the Organization, ensuring that risk management, crisis preparedness, and continuity planning are unified within a robust governance structure.
Responsibilities
- Create, execute, and upkeep the Business Continuity Management framework for the Organization.
- Lead the identification and assessment of critical operations, dependencies, vulnerabilities, and recovery needs.
- Support the creation of Business Continuity Plans and disaster recovery protocols.
- Align business continuity practices with enterprise risk and crisis management strategies.
- Plan and conduct continuity exercises, simulations, and stress tests, using results to drive improvements.
- Advise leadership and stakeholders on continuity strategies, preparedness, and resilience capabilities.
- Develop training materials, tools, and guidance to foster a culture of business continuity awareness.
- Track, evaluate, and report on the maturity and effectiveness of continuity arrangements.
- Participate in ongoing resilience initiatives and improvement projects within the OSI-ICS department.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in business continuity, risk management, engineering, legal affairs, organizational resilience, information systems, or a related discipline.
- Proven track record in business continuity, organizational resilience, or risk management within complex environments.
- Experience performing business impact analyses and formulating continuity and recovery strategies.
- Ability to collaborate across departmental boundaries and engage diverse stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
Nice to have
- Professional certification in business continuity or resilience management, such as ISO 22301 or credentials from BCI/DRII.
- Background in designing and facilitating workshops, exercises, or training sessions.
- Prior experience working in international, technical, or research settings.
