Category Manager IT

Alpiq Hydro Aare AG seeks a Category Manager IT in Olten to lead indirect IT procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost optimization across the group.

This position sits within the Indirect Procurement team and reports directly to the Head of Procurement. The professional serves as the designated Procurement Representative for specific countries within the Alpiq Group, ensuring that local business needs align with broader group objectives across European operations.

Responsibilities

• Create and refine category strategies for IT services, security, software, SaaS, and licenses.
• Oversee sourcing events, tenders, and negotiations to secure optimal commercial and risk-related results.
• Handle the complete RFX lifecycle, from supplier assessment and selection to final contract award.
• Build and sustain productive partnerships with internal stakeholders and key external suppliers.
• Serve as the main procurement liaison for major IT vendors, overseeing performance, risks, and commercial opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, value generation, and process enhancements within assigned categories.
• Promote the use of AI, automation, and digital tools to increase procurement efficiency.
• Track supplier performance and ensure robust contract and relationship management.
• Assist in claim handling and commercial discussions with suppliers.
• Guarantee adherence to procurement policies, category plans, and contractual terms.
• Represent procurement interests in assigned countries, bridging local requirements with group goals.
• Manage an annual spend portfolio and contribute to group-wide savings and value targets.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and group procurement initiatives.
• Help implement the company’s IT and digitalization strategy from a procurement viewpoint.

Requirements
