CERN seeks an Entry Level IT Support Officer for its Communication, Outreach and Education section. The role involves supporting digital platforms, event logistics, and information architecture to engage the global scientific community.

This position sits within the Communication, Outreach and Education section of the Department Infrastructure group. The primary purpose is to help the world's largest physics laboratory connect more effectively with students, trainees, researchers, and the general public through improved digital tools and organized outreach activities.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to initiatives focused on education, communication, and public outreach within the IT-DI-COE section.
  • Assist with the migration of the CERN IT website to WordPress and help design a new information architecture to enhance searchability and user experience.
  • Provide back-office support for conferences, project events, and CERN OpenDays, while working to streamline existing organizational processes.
  • Help develop and maintain departmental infrastructure to manage resources for inductions, site visits, and other key operational processes.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with content management systems, specifically Drupal or WordPress.
  • Familiarity with productivity suites such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with design or visualization tools like Linearity or Canva.
  • Must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Communication, Computing, or a related discipline.
  • Have no more than two years of professional experience since graduation.
  • Must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
  • Demonstrate fluent spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience working in scientific, research, innovation, or technology sectors.
  • Existing familiarity with WordPress or similar content management platforms.
