Chef

ELABasel International is seeking a part-time Chef to prepare nutritious meals for 200 students in Basel. The role requires culinary training, multilingual skills, and experience with diverse dietary needs.

This position supports the ELABasel Family by providing healthy, appealing meals in a supportive setting. The role helps foster respect and prepares children to succeed in a global, interconnected community.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee daily meal preparation for a student body of 200.
• Deliver nutritious and enjoyable food in a welcoming kitchen environment.
• Accommodate various dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free preferences.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and handle routine dishwashing duties.

Requirements

• Hold a completed chef apprenticeship (EFZ).
• Possess prior experience in school or child-focused catering.
• Demonstrate skill in preparing meals for students with allergies or specific dietary restrictions.
• Communicate fluently in German and English (C1 level).
• Hold a valid Swiss work permit.
• Utilize Excel with advanced proficiency.
• Apply strong organizational and analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Collaborate effectively within a team and thrive in a multicultural setting.
• Manage time efficiently to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate reliability, trustworthiness, and punctuality.
• Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor with students and staff.
