Executive Chef

TASIS American School Switzerland seeks a Senior Executive Chef to lead food and beverage operations for its historic boarding school in Kryenbühl. The role requires extensive culinary management experience and fluency in English and Italian.

The Executive Chef serves as the primary leader for all culinary and catering activities at TASIS, including the snack bar and event services. Reporting to the Operations Director and collaborating with the Headmaster, this position ensures high-quality food service while managing staff, budgets, and compliance within the school environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily food preparation to ensure consistent, high-quality, and innovative cuisine.
• Develop menus that cater to diverse dietary preferences, nutritional needs, and taste profiles.
• Manage kitchen and catering staff through hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Control operational costs, including stock, wastage, and profit margins.
• Prepare monthly food cost reports and manage both daily and annual operating and capital expenditure budgets.
• Ensure all kitchen and catering equipment is maintained and fully functional.
• Implement and monitor sustainable practices within food and beverage operations.
• Organize catering staff and logistics for annual school events.
• Serve as the primary liaison for school nurses regarding student allergy requirements.
• Enforce strict adherence to food handling, sanitation, and HACCP standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Science or an equivalent professional diploma.
• At least ten years of recent experience as an Executive Chef in large-scale international settings.
• Proven track record managing operations serving 1,000 to 1,500 meals per day.
• Native-level or C1/C2 proficiency in English.
• Intermediate to upper-intermediate proficiency in Italian (B2 level).
