Based at the Mandarin Oriental Savoy in Zurich, this position sits within the Culinary Department and reports directly to the Jr. Sous Chef. The role focuses on delivering exceptional culinary experiences while maintaining rigorous quality and hygiene protocols.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of a designated kitchen station to ensure smooth workflow and strict compliance with quality and hygiene protocols.
- Oversee the preparation, quality control, and visual presentation of dishes to meet established high standards.
- Minimize food waste through careful planning and execution.
- Contribute creative input to the development of new menu concepts.
- Coordinate with the supervisor regarding inventory needs and supervise the receipt of daily supplies.
- Enforce daily hygiene and cleanliness standards in line with HACCP guidelines.
Requirements
- Completion of a formal chef apprenticeship.
- Two to three years of relevant experience, ideally within upscale hospitality or gastronomy.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong attention to detail and a creative approach to culinary work.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational capabilities.
- Proven leadership abilities to effectively manage a kitchen station.
- A structured, results-driven, and independent work ethic.
- A deep commitment to quality.
- Proficiency in English at a very good level.
