Conversational AI Engineer

Swisscom seeks a Conversational AI Engineer in Zürich to design scalable, agent-based chat and voice systems that enhance customer interaction through modern AI orchestration.

The company is looking for a professional to lead the development of next-generation customer interaction platforms. This role focuses on transitioning from traditional scripted flows to adaptive, tool-based AI agents, aiming to boost reliability, user experience, and overall business impact through production-grade solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain scalable chat and voice interfaces that prioritize user experience, system reliability, and measurable performance outcomes.
• Establish and implement agent-based interaction patterns and modern orchestration strategies for various customer-facing applications.
• Develop AI workflows that seamlessly integrate external tools, interfaces, and agents while enhancing observability, logging, evaluation metrics, and quality monitoring.
• Partner with business stakeholders, designers, and engineering teams to translate requirements into robust production solutions and continuously refine interaction flows.

Requirements

• A university degree (ETH, Uni, or FH) in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Solid programming background in Python alongside experience with contemporary software development practices.
• Hands-on experience with conversational platforms such as Rasa or Dialogflow, cloud services like AWS or Bedrock, MCP, and agentic workflow design.
• Fluent communication skills in English and a good command of the German language.
