Director, Platform and Integration Lead

Blockstream seeks a Director, Platform and Integration Lead in Zurich, Switzerland, to define and lead the technical architecture of client platforms integrating banking systems, enterprise infrastructure, and Blockstream technologies. The role requires 10+ years of experience in platform architecture and enterprise integration, with expertise in API-first design, microservices, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), and fluency in German and English.

This role is responsible for shaping how client platforms are technically built across systems, data environments, and Blockstream infrastructure. It serves as a key link between the Head of Solutions and the Head of Delivery, ensuring architectural designs are executable, interoperable, and aligned with enterprise-grade integration standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and integration of multi-system client platforms, connecting banking systems, enterprise infrastructure, and Blockstream technologies.
• Collaborate with the Director, Industry Lead, Financial Services to turn industry solution strategies and reference architectures into platform designs.
• Work with the Head of Solutions to refine technical direction and platform architecture.
• Partner with the Head of Delivery to ensure systems are buildable, testable, and scalable in production environments.
• Define and own the platform integration strategy, including API architecture and system connectivity.
• Define and own the platform integration strategy, including data flows, data models, and platform orchestration.
• Define and own the platform integration strategy, including event-driven architectures and messaging systems.
• Define and own the platform integration strategy, including cross-platform interoperability standards.
• Design how APIs, data pipelines, platform services, and AI-enabled features interact to create unified institutional platforms.
• Establish and govern integration frameworks and reusable patterns aligned with industry reference architectures.
• Guide engineering teams in DevOps, CI/CD, and deployment environments.
• Guide engineering teams in system integration, testing, and validation processes.
• Guide engineering teams in ensuring platform scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Act as the senior decision-maker for cross-platform dependencies, integration choices, and system-level trade-offs.
• Ensure alignment between solution architecture and technical delivery across design and operations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in platform architecture, enterprise integration, or large-scale system implementation.
• Proven track record in designing and delivering complex, multi-system platforms in banking, fintech, or enterprise settings.
• Strong expertise in API-first architecture.
• Strong expertise in microservices and event-driven systems.
• Strong expertise in enterprise data platforms and data integration.
• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, with AWS preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to translate high-level solution architectures into executable platform designs, collaborating across architecture and engineering teams.
• Experience working with industry/domain leaders and client-facing architects to operationalize solution strategies.
• Strong understanding of system interoperability, integration patterns, and distributed system design.
• Fluency in German or Swiss German and English is required.
• Must be located in Switzerland, with Zurich or Zug preferred.

• Strong knowledge of Bitcoin and blockchain technologies.
• Experience integrating digital asset infrastructure into traditional banking systems.
• Background in treasury management, corporate finance, or digital asset custody.
• Experience with FIX, OMS, PMS, fund administration, accounting, or market data systems.
• Experience working with or advising banks, asset managers, and institutional clients.
• Exposure to traditional payment systems and cross-border payment flows.
• Experience supporting or scaling go-to-market teams in fintech or digital assets.
