Embedded Software Engineer (Camera & Driver Platform)

Auterion seeks a Mid-level Embedded Software Engineer in Zürich to develop camera data pipelines and driver platforms for its autonomous robotic operating system, AuterionOS.

This position sits within the Computer Vision team, focusing on the application layer of AuterionOS. The engineer will handle camera data streaming, synchronize multiple sensors, and architect robust pipelines while working daily with Linux on embedded hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with hardware engineers and customer support teams to align development efforts.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance camera data pipelines within the AuterionOS environment.
  • Implement new features, resolve defects, write tests, and optimize software performance.
  • Guarantee product reliability for both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Suggest innovative software solutions and lead their implementation from concept to delivery.
  • Update internal documentation and contribute to the public knowledge base.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and release planning sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of professional experience coding in object-oriented C++ and/or Python.
  • Deep expertise in embedded architectures, including cross-compilation, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Strong Linux fundamentals, covering kernel basics, systemd, device drivers, device trees, and bootloaders like u-boot.
  • Proficiency in managing Docker environments and creating Debian packages.
  • Hands-on experience with video streaming technologies such as MIPI CSI and gstreamer.
  • Solid networking knowledge across the OSI stack, including IP addressing, routing, DNS, and HTTP/HTTPS.
  • A product-focused, hands-on approach with a drive to advance project initiatives.

Nice to have

  • Background in electrical engineering, including familiarity with schematics and instrumentation for I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN bus.
  • Prior work experience with NXP i.MX or NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
  • Experience using ROS1 or ROS2 frameworks.
