The EMEA Associate Director, Business Development at Lonza drives growth across the Specialized Modalities platform, building customer relationships and developing new business opportunities across mainland Europe.
This role focuses on expanding Lonza's Specialized Modalities platform, which covers cell therapy, viral vectors, exosomes, mRNA, and microbial development and manufacturing services. The position involves cultivating strong customer relationships throughout mainland Europe and identifying new business opportunities while collaborating with internal experts to provide customized solutions that highlight Lonza's value.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline by connecting with clients and identifying new opportunities.
- Manage the entire sales process, from initial contact to final negotiation and deal closure.
- Assess client requirements and effectively present Lonza's Specialized Modalities solutions.
- Establish and expand a professional network within the cell and gene therapy, mRNA, and Microbial sectors.
- Organize and participate in client meetings, industry conferences, and events to generate new leads.
- Provide market insights and competitive analysis to inform commercial strategy.
- Partner with internal teams to create customized proposals and ensure seamless account transitions.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of commercial experience in the CDMO sector within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated track record of managing complete sales or project lifecycles.
- Experience leading contract negotiations and coordinating stakeholders to achieve final agreement.
- Skill in developing customer-oriented presentations.
- Familiarity with the drug development lifecycle.
- Solid technical knowledge of cell and gene therapy, mRNA, and Microbial manufacturing principles.
- Fluent proficiency in written and spoken English.
Nice to have
- A BSc, MSc, or PhD in a scientific field is preferred.
- Knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
- Experience with CRM platforms like Salesforce is desirable.
