Awin AG seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a new Billing & Payments team, focusing on team building, technical strategy, and delivery in a hybrid, flexible work environment.
This position sits within the Billing & Payments Tribe and is responsible for establishing a new engineering group from scratch. It is designed for a seasoned leader who excels in complex areas and enjoys creating autonomous, high-performing teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage and expand a group of 5–6 developers located in Germany, Romania, and additional hubs.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to help engineers advance their careers and achieve technical excellence.
- Establish effective feedback mechanisms to encourage ongoing learning and process improvement.
- Build a supportive workplace where decision-making is decentralized and accountability is clear.
- Work with Product Management to set team objectives, priorities, and key results.
- Take responsibility for delivery timelines and enhance team efficiency and reliability.
- Coordinate with other tribes, platform groups, and support functions like DevOps, UX, and InfoSec.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and personal development plans.
- Act as the team’s representative to stakeholders and help shape broader engineering strategy.
Requirements
- At least eight years of experience in software engineering.
- Minimum of two years in an Engineering Manager or equivalent leadership capacity.
- Proven track record of building and scaling teams across distributed locations.
- Strong coaching abilities and a genuine interest in nurturing talent.
- Comfort working within financial or payments sectors.
- Deep technical knowledge to engage in architecture discussions and system design.
- Ability to guide teams on testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
- Consider long-term technical strategy, trade-offs, and system interactions.
- A data-informed approach to decision-making, with a bias toward observability and learning.
- A proactive mindset toward AI and emerging technologies.
