Engineering Manager

SonarSource seeks an Engineering Manager in Geneva to lead a development squad, drive technical architecture, and foster a high-performance engineering culture for global software products.

The company is looking for a leader to guide a team of five to ten developers responsible for building, automating, and operating software utilized by millions of customers worldwide. This role involves defining quarterly and annual objectives in partnership with Product Management, overseeing technical direction, and ensuring the team delivers high-quality releases while maintaining a strong on-call presence for critical system support.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and support a squad of engineers to ensure successful monthly releases of SonarQube.
• Collaborate with Product Management to define and track quarterly and annual squad objectives aligned with broader company goals.
• Oversee technical architecture and engineering strategy to ensure high standards and secure code practices.
• Build a platform that enables other functional squads to deliver their features effectively.
• Partner with hiring teams to recruit talented engineers and manage the onboarding process for new hires.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safe feedback, and cross-team collaboration.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to address critical system issues outside of regular business hours.
• Ensure sprint tracking and team processes align with company expectations and stakeholder needs.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience in a leadership or management position.
• Eight or more years of experience in software development or a related field.
• Advanced proficiency in the Java ecosystem.
• Solid understanding of DevOps principles and Agile methodologies.
• Strong coding mindset, including experience with the full coding lifecycle, code reviews, and navigating unfamiliar codebases.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and its associated development environment.
