Gravisrobotics, a startup transforming heavy construction machines into autonomous robots, seeks a Mid-level Field Robotics Engineer in Zurich. The role involves leading customer deployments, ensuring system reliability, and collaborating across R&D and Operations in a hybrid work model.
Gravis Robotics is a startup converting heavy construction equipment into intelligent, autonomous robots using learning-based automation and remote control. The Field Robotics Engineer operates at the intersection of hardware, software, and real-world deployment, playing a key role in delivering customer projects and ensuring high performance and reliability. The position involves hands-on technical execution, ownership of deployment projects, and close collaboration with R&D and Operations to improve planning, testing, and delivery processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer deployment projects from planning to delivery, ensuring technical execution is completed end-to-end.
- Manage technical planning, coordination, and follow-up in collaboration with Operations.
- Act as the primary technical contact for customers throughout the deployment process.
- Provide direct technical support and guidance to customers and end users.
- Conduct regular system testing to maintain reliability, robustness, and performance.
- Prepare performance reports and work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Help improve deployment processes, tools, and best practices over time.
Requirements
- A university degree (including Fachhochschule) in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in deploying, integrating, and debugging robotic software systems.
- Experience with the ROS ecosystem.
- Strong proficiency in Linux environments.
- Fluency in using Git or similar version control systems.
- Solid programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, including internationally, as needed.
- Valid Category B driving license.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with mechanical or electronics tasks, such as hardware assembly or basic soldering.
- Familiarity with communication protocols like CAN.
- Prior experience in managing technical or customer projects.
- Professional or native proficiency in German.
- Practical experience repairing vehicles, machinery, bicycles, or electronics.
- Experience operating or working with construction or agricultural machinery.
