Functional Business Analyst, Trading & Origination (all) 100%

Alpiq AG seeks a Functional Business Analyst for Trading & Origination in Olten, CH. The role supports operational transformation and product development, working across Front Office, IT, Risk, and Back Office teams. Requires 3+ years in energy trading, strong process knowledge, and project management skills.

This position reports to the Head of Operation Excellence and New Product Implementation and supports the evolution of Alpiq’s Trading & Origination organization. The team leads strategic changes, product development, and operational improvements, collaborating across Front Office, analysts, Middle/Back Office, Risk, and IT to deliver a comprehensive product offering.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate technology changes affecting Trading & Origination, including systems, interfaces, workflows, and data.
• Oversee updates to existing products, ensuring accurate deal representation and seamless end-to-end processing.
• Support product lifecycle activities from a functional standpoint, including design input, approval, and phase-out for standard products, and assist with structured products.
• Develop expertise in core systems, products, and processes to serve as a functional knowledge resource.
• Initiate and lead a Post-Trade Monitoring initiative to validate new product implementations after launch.
• Design and implement a monitoring framework with KPIs, controls, and exception management to assess new product performance and feed insights into improvements.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in energy trading (physical and financial power and/or gas) within a trading house, utility, or energy consulting firm, preferably as a Business Analyst or in product management.
• Deep understanding of end-to-end trading processes for financial and physical power and gas in the European market.
• Solid grasp of standard and structured energy products.
• Experience managing projects with stakeholders from multiple business areas.
• Master’s degree and broad knowledge of IT and software integration/development.
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams, including traders, originators, quants, Risk, and IT.
• Analytical, structured, and results-driven mindset with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
