Ground Segment Software Developer (UK or LUX)

ClearSpace seeks a Mid-level Ground Segment Software Developer to design and maintain mission-critical software for autonomous space operations, supporting roles in the UK or Luxembourg.

The Ground Segment Team serves as the digital backbone for safe, reliable, and autonomous space operations. This position focuses on designing, building, and operating the infrastructure that underpins mission-critical services, spanning from initial development through to live operations in space.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain software essential for spacecraft monitoring and commanding.
• Develop and operate the Mission Control System (MCS), ensuring it meets reliability and performance standards.
• Create and manage mission data flows and automation to improve operational efficiency.
• Build new Ground Segment modules using Java and Python.
• Support subsystems such as CFDP-based file management, automated data ingestion, and telemetry workflow automation.
• Collaborate with system engineers to ensure requirements traceability and robust technical design.
• Debug and optimize critical services to ensure operational readiness.
• Produce documentation, configuration files, and operational guidelines for long-term maintenance.
• Participate in technical reviews, design discussions, and mission readiness activities.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java and Python.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, including testing and documentation.
• Experience in developing distributed or mission-critical systems.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and standard development toolchains.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL databases, schema design, or interfacing data layers with operational systems.
• Knowledge of Ground Segment TM/TC chains, particularly CCSDS standards including CFDP and PUS services.
• Understanding of telemetry processing, command pipelines, or mission control architectures.
