Amazon Switzerland seeks a Senior Health & Safety Manager in Zürich to lead safety operations for its AWS data center infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance and employee protection.

This position serves as the primary Health and Safety Manager for one of the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure teams. The role is responsible for owning the safety function within a specific area, with the core mission of improving data center safety standards and protecting employees. As part of a regional and global network, the incumbent supports safety operations across AWS data centers, helping to keep the cloud running and ensuring continual customer access.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce safety standards, policies, and industry best practices.
• Manage all training initiatives, including new hire inductions, refresher courses, and the creation or delivery of educational presentations.
• Coordinate with external partners such as general contractors, subcontractors, and emergency service providers.
• Guarantee adherence to global safety programs and local legislative requirements.
• Create and evaluate safety protocols for on-site emergencies, special events, and other unique operational scenarios.
• Conduct safety data analysis and generate benchmarking reports.
• Maintain accurate safety records and provide precise reporting and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with compliance teams to interpret safety regulations and lead investigations.
• Design and execute solutions to remove risk exposure and prevent workplace injuries.
• Educate and train internal staff on established safety policies and procedures.
• Work closely with construction managers to identify and mitigate risks before live operations begin.

Requirements

• Hold an Occupational Safety Specialist qualification as defined by Swiss Law Art. 11(d) VUV.
• Possess at least five years of hands-on field experience in safety management.
• Demonstrate fluent proficiency in both English and German.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of the MSST directive and local health and safety regulations.
• Extensive knowledge of local safety laws, workplace health practices, and regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience in implementing safety programs, processes, and procedural documentation.
• Prior safety experience within data centers, manufacturing, construction, or similar industrial sectors.
