Joint Maintenance Avionics Technician | flight operations & support of Air Force PAYERNE

Ruag seeks a Mid-level Joint Maintenance Avionics Technician in Payerne to maintain Air Force aircraft, ensuring fleet readiness and national security through rigorous maintenance and operational support.

This position acts as the critical connection between maintenance teams, pilots, and operations management. The primary goal is to guarantee that the Air Force fleet remains safe and fully prepared for deployment. The role allows the technician to work directly on military aircraft systems while contributing to the security of Switzerland.

Responsibilities

• Execute scheduled maintenance intervals, which includes replacing systems and conducting tests.
• Diagnose error messages, troubleshoot technical issues, and carry out structural repairs.
• Perform final pre-flight checks before aircraft departure.
• Conduct visual and functional inspections of the aircraft and its systems after every flight.
• Accompany pilots and jet crews during training flights.
• Work primarily at Payerne air base, but also travel to other Swiss military airfields as required.
• Transport and load spare parts, tools, and specialized equipment within the airfield.

Requirements

• Technical vocational training (EFZ), preferably with an electrotechnical focus.
• Valid Category B driver's license.
• Very good technical English skills (minimum B1 level).
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and SAP.
• Swiss citizenship.

Nice to have

• Professional experience in flight operations and aircraft maintenance, ideally within a military context.
• Required module qualifications or licenses under EASA Part-66, specifically Category B1 (Mechanics) or B2 (Avionics).
• Category C or E driver's license.
• Conversational skills in German or French.
