Ruag seeks a Mid-level Joint Maintenance Mechanical Technician to support Air Force jets at Payerne, ensuring fleet readiness and safety through maintenance, inspections, and pilot coordination.
This position acts as the critical connection between maintenance teams, pilots, and operations management. The primary goal is to guarantee that the Swiss Air Force fleet remains safe and fully prepared for deployment within a dynamic operational environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled maintenance intervals, which includes replacing systems and conducting tests.
- Diagnose error messages, troubleshoot technical issues, and carry out structural repairs.
- Perform final pre-flight checks before handing over aircraft to pilots.
- Conduct visual and functional inspections following every flight.
- Accompany pilots and jet crews on training flights for both domestic and international missions.
- Work at Payerne Military Airfield and other Swiss military locations as required.
- Transport and load spare parts, tools, and specialized equipment across the airfield.
- Manage documentation and ensure quality management standards are met.
Requirements
- Technical vocational training (EFZ), preferably with a focus on electrical engineering.
- Possession of a Category B driver's license is mandatory.
- Swiss citizenship is required due to work on Swiss Military property.
- High commitment and flexibility for QRA, AMA, AMI, night/weekend shifts, and deployment changes.
- Resilient, team-oriented personality with a reliable, precise work ethic and strong safety awareness.
Nice to have
- Practical experience in flight operations and aircraft maintenance, ideally in a military setting.
- EASA Part-66 module qualifications/licenses (Category B1 Mechanics or B2 Avionics).
- Category C or E driver's license.
- Conversational technical English skills (B2 level).
- Advanced digital competencies in MS Office and SAP.
