Junior FX Strategist (f/m/d)

LGT seeks a Junior FX Strategist in Zürich to develop global currency, precious metals, and digital assets strategies through macroeconomic analysis and forecasting.

This position supports LGT Private Bank Europe by creating comprehensive investment strategies for foreign exchange, precious metals, and digital assets. The role focuses on analyzing macroeconomic trends to generate actionable insights that guide the bank's investment decisions and client recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain global strategies for foreign exchange, precious metals, and digital assets.
  • Track macroeconomic developments, central bank policies, and market movements to build valuation and forecasting models.
  • Apply analytical findings to support the bank’s broader investment strategy.
  • Deliver timely market updates, investment perspectives, and tactical advice to relationship managers and clients.
  • Develop and present investable ideas during weekly investment meetings.
  • Generate high-conviction trading and investment concepts based on fundamental and macroeconomic research.
  • Work with macro, fixed income, and equity teams to evaluate cross-asset impacts.
  • Communicate investment views to internal teams and private clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, finance, or a related field.
  • One to three years of experience in investment strategy, research, or a similar area; outstanding recent graduates are also welcome.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, including proficiency in statistical methods and advanced Excel.
  • Fluency in both English and German, paired with excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.
  • A professional, independent, and team-oriented attitude, with a willingness to travel occasionally.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience or research background in currency or precious metals strategy, along with knowledge of digital assets.
  • CFA, CEFA, or CIIA certification, or active progress toward obtaining one.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with forecasting and trading models, including backtesting and cross-asset strategy experience.
