Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG seeks a Mid-level Lab Scientist for Biologics Characterization in Surface Plasmon Resonance in Basel. The role involves analytical support for new biological entities using biophysical techniques.
This position is embedded within the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) laboratory team, part of the Analytical Characterization unit. The primary purpose is to provide analytical support for the development of Novartis’ new biological entities (NBEs), covering stages from proof-of-concept through to commercialization and life-cycle management. The scientist utilizes biophysical techniques to elucidate binding affinity and kinetics.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute analytical protein characterization studies using SPR technology.
- Create new SPR methodologies and implement existing ones.
- Accurately evaluate and document results while maintaining consistent quality standards.
- Draft study reports and write detailed descriptions of analytical methods.
- Assist in the technical organization and maintenance of the laboratory.
- Identify and resolve issues within established methods.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a specialization in biochemistry, biophysics, or analytical chemistry.
Nice to have
- Previous hands-on experience with surface plasmon resonance techniques.
- Practical experience working with proteins.
- Ability to critically and objectively interpret scientific data and results.
- Strong organizational capabilities and effective teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in English and familiarity with MS Office software.
