Scientist, Analytical Characterization (HPLC & Mass Spec)

Adaptyv seeks a Scientist for Analytical Characterization in Lausanne to build and automate HPLC and mass spectrometry methods for biologics, bridging hands-on science with data pipelines.

This position focuses on establishing a robust analytical characterization capability at Adaptyv. The role serves as a critical forensic layer for customers, translating complex molecular data into clear, actionable insights. The successful candidate will lead scientific efforts while actively building bespoke methods into automated, high-throughput systems, maintaining a hands-on approach rather than shifting into pure management.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and execute analytical methods using HPLC (SEC, IEX/CEX, RP, HILIC) and LC-MS.
• Create a comprehensive, productized analytical menu for antibodies and other biologics that can be ordered by clients.
• Collaborate with lab automation teams to integrate methods into automated, high-throughput platforms ensuring consistent turnaround times.
• Partner with software engineers to structure data, develop analysis and QC pipelines, and convert raw spectra and chromatograms into clear, interpretable results.
• Maintain high quality standards by troubleshooting instruments and methods, defining acceptance criteria, and ensuring the integrity of reported data.
• Advise customers and internal teams on the interpretation of analytical data.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on expertise in HPLC and mass spectrometry for proteins and biologics, including method development and validation beyond fixed SOPs.
• Industry experience in production, manufacturing, QC, or commercial CRO environments.
• Strong knowledge of the antibody and biologics analytical stack.
• Ability to work quickly and effectively as a builder.
• Comfort collaborating with automation engineers and software developers.

Nice to have

• Experience converting method data into pipelines, including some scripting or data fluency.
